The Portland whack job commies are taking the day off from their Obama-adoring,
homosexual marriage in your face, anti-America agenda to totally screw up traffic
with their "bridge pedal" activity. So this is a good day to get out of town (if
you can find a way to get across the river...)

And BTW, why homosexuals want to experience the joy of divorce, property settlements
child custody battles and so on, is a mystery to me. It could be related to the reason
that they want to legalize drugs that further fry their brains... Liberal logic has
always seemed to be an oxymoron to me.

This is an annual ride for us. Often, if the weather is good, more than once a year.
Been coming out here since around 2005 or so. But didn't have a web site or a decent
camera back then. The Bluebird saloon [re]opened in ~ 2006. Before that, the town was
just a whistle stop. Had lunch in Goldendale back then.

GETTING THERE: The Whoop-n-Holler Ranch Museum is "in the middle of nowhere"
but is easily located. It's about mid-way between Roosevelt and Bickleton,
right off the Roosevelt-Bickleton Highway. About 11 miles South of Bickleton
you'll see this large sign. You can see the ranch to your right. Turn right
and then take the first left (gravel road) up to the main house. We walked
around taking pictures without announcing our presence. Ada will come around
after a while (they have closed circuit monitors on the property).

Here's the entrance sign to the ranch. And an old buckboard out front

Left the bike at the gate. Pretty dusty going up the driveway. Zero traffic
on Whitmore Road. The road to this point is paved so no worries if you are on a bike.

Laurence is 86 years old (2014) and not in the greatest health. We did visit
with him for a while and he is a remarkable gentleman. Ada is still quite spry
and provided a wealth of interesting information about the area and various items
in the museum. Married at 18 and still together.... for as long as I've walked
this Earth. That's quite remarkable in itself. Sometimes, although not often,
you really get lucky when you marry someone.

If you like Studebakers you're gonna love this place! There's a gazillion of them!

Here's even more pictures of the Whoop-n-Holler Ranch Museum grounds (cars).

Here's some pictures of the Whoop-n-Holler Ranch Museum old car barn. The
cars here are in amazingly good condition but are stacked too close together to
get really good pictures of many of them.

And of course the mandatory stop at the Bluebird Inn for a yummy 2x2.

Then a stop in Cleveland to check out Cleveland Park. Here's more pictures of
the Cleveland, Washington segment.

Stopped in Goldendale and walked around the Presby Museum grounds. Here's more
pictures of the Goldendale, Washington segment.

Here's some pictures taken along the way. The John Day dam across the Columbia
River. John Day was a weenie who went along on John Jacob Astor's overland party and
cracked up (mentally). Several of his partners were quite remarkable in their
courage and survival abilities. John Day was not one of them.

The old aluminum plant at the John Day dam. Takes a lot of juice to make aluminum.

The Maryhill Museum taken cruising down I-84 at 65 mph, on the other side of
the river. Not a bad shot....

The Rowena fire was in the news all last week. It's mostly contained now.
