Pictures of our 2013 visit to the Mount Rainier Scenic Railroad.

We had a great time in 2014 too. The train crew and all the volunteers were
very gracious. This is a very fun ride and at ~$25 per person, it's a very
good value. The weather in August is usually great out this way. We highly
recommend visiting the Mount Rainier Scenic Railroad as an annual activity.

The MRSR folks made a lot of improvements since we were here in 2013. Most noticeable
was the fact that the track was in MUCH better condition. The small fee they charge
to enjoy the ride and museum is apparenly being put to very good use. As you can
see by the pictures posted in this segment, the volunteers work very hard to keep
everything running ship-shape.

Here is just as good as anywhere to post a review of the Pizza Express in Elbe,
Washington.

To be kind, the pizzas served here are NOT very good. In fact, ours was pretty
darned bad. I reviewed the place on their Facebook page and gave them two stars
which I thought was very generous. The pizza was not a two-star "fair" quality.
It was a one star, poor pizza! A "we'll never be back" pizza place. In fact,
a running joke with us while we're standing in the long lines at Scaleburger,
across the street is, "why don't we go across the road and have a really crappy
pizza at The Pizza Express instead of waiting in line here?". We laugh and continue
waiting our turn to place our order for a pretty decent burger and fries.

To follow up.... after I reviewed the Pizza Express, the Owner posted a rebuttal
that was extremely hostile (he's since edited out some of his more denigrating
statements). Obviously, customer feedback means nothing to this guy, so.....
unless you enjoy spending a lot of money on a REALLY inferior pizza, consider
eating elsewhere. The Pizza Express in Elbe, Washington wins our coveted
"avoid at all costs" award as a business best not patronized.

The obligatory stop in Rainier, Oregon. Pleasant morning but very overcast.
Not the best lighting for picture taking...

Then a brief stop in Mineral, Washington. We were pressed for time.. didn't
want to miss the 12:45 train. Returned after the ride and walked around some.
Mineral seems to be an "interesting" little burb.

Here's more pictures of the Mineral, Washington segment.

Here's even pictures of the Mineral, Washington segment.

Also more pictures of the MRSR Museum in Mineral.

Then off to Elbe, Washinton for a ride on the Mount Rainier Scenic Railroad
Number 17 steamer.

Here's more pictures of the MRSR steam train ride Elbe Depot segment.

Here's more pictures of the MRSR steam train ride along the ride.

We got a much better view (although far from ideal) of Mount Rainier
this time.

Stopped at the MRSR Museum for 30 minutes.

Here's more pictures of the MRSR Museum segment.

Here's even more pictures of the MRSR Museum segment.

Here's still more pictures of the MRSR Museum segment.

Here's more pictures of the MRSR Number 17 steamer.

Saw this 1957 Ford in Morton, Washington

Stopped at Spiffys for a late lunch/early dinner. When we were leaving, there
was this 1959 MG with the hood up. These things have never been a paragon of
reliability. MGs would overheat in Antartica.
