I don't ride it that much anymore, but here's my 1997 Big Dog.
Very throaty sound, very fast.... it actually growls when you let off the throttle.

One Owner
23,000 miles as of 6/1/2014
This bike has a custom swing arm frame - essentially a Harley Davidson FXR design.
Hydraulic (telescoping) Wide Glide front forks. Progressive Suspension shocks
Very smooth ride and stable cornering,
This is a very light (~600#), agile and easy to handle bike.

Harley Davidson design 80 CI Evolution motor. ~92 HP to the rear wheel.
100% S&S bottom end. Edlebrock Performer Pro top end. Crane Hi 4 Ignition.
Additional head work done by Baisley in Portland, Oregon
Titled as a Big Dog Proglide so easy and inexpensive to insure.
I pay $225/yr for full coverage.

Stage one, stage two and stage three upgrades
Delkron Transmission case (Andrews gears).
K&N air cleaner, Mikuni Carb. Wiseco Pistons.
A mild (but very responsive) Andrews 560 EV57 Cam.
Xzotic Panhead roller rocker covers.
Braided oil lines throughout. Upgraded ignition wires
Performance Machine brakes, Progressive Suspension shocks, 5 gallon gas tank.
New All Balls starter. New Golan petcock
Very old school solenoid slam switch for added reliability
Python II exhaust. (throaty but not obnoxiously loud), Corbin 2-up saddle.
Heavy leather saddlebags included in the sale.
Has only seen full synthetic lubricants in all three holes since day one.
Currently using AMSOIL 20W-50 full synthetic.
Tires (Continentals...pretty much puncture-proof). New @ 22,700 miles
Harley Davidson Fat Boy alloy rear wheel
Always on a Battery Tender. Permanent connector installed (no need to remove seat)
Rarely ridden in the rain, always garaged. Never dropped or crashed.

This bike was built back when Big Dog would still build a bike to customer specs
provided that it didn't deviate substantially from their "standard" processes. All
of my upgrade specs had to do with increasing power and reliability.. no ridiculously
fat rear tire, ape hangers, tiny gas tank and so on here!

This is *NOT* your typical "custom bike". In fact, it is a production model
(Big Dog manufactured about 10,000 production bikes over ten years). Mine is one
of them.

This bike was completely gone over at 22,700 miles. Everything checked.
New plugs, timing adjusted (It's a single fire, electronic unit), new fuel filter.
Carb cleaned and rebuilt, many questionable seals and gaskets replaced.
Leaks no oil!

ISSUES:

I no longer take this bike on long trips because of it's age but there are no
reliability problems that I am aware of that would prevent doing so. I mostly just
ride this bike now as a VERY strong, attention getting bar hopper.

NOTE: Do not use the newer 2 micron oil filters on this bike! Use
RevTech magnetic oil filter CCI #35-078

Lots of chrome. Here's a shot of the solenoid slam switch. You don't see many
with one of those anymore.
