GETTING THERE: We were out to Neahkahnie Mountain earlier this year.
Nice hike and nice views but waaaaay too many self-indulgent yuppie scum
up there. We resolved to return after the spore are back in school and
the "adults" are back in their trailers watching Oprah.

Today may well be the last nice day until Spring so Julie took a PTO day and off
to the Coast we went. It was a perfect Fall day... there were a few people at
Neahkahnie but not nearly the flock of Eugene trailer trash commie dipzoids that
were there on our last visit here.

There's a Geodetic Survey marker at the very top of Neahkahnie. We didn't find
any dead guy or a chest full of doubloons... but we did find this marker.

Not that this hike is so tiring, but there's a nice little bench with a view
not far from the summit.

The entrance to this trailhead is off of Highway 101 just across from Sunset Road
which is a few hundred yards North of the golf course. As you can see, there are a
couple of signs right at the entrance road. We parked on the turn off at 101. But
you can save yourself 20 minutes and 3/4 mile of hiking if you drive up the road
and park at the trailhead.

This is a very easy 4 mile in and out hike. If you wanted to do a nice 6 or so
mile loop, you could start at the trailhead described HERE, hike to the top
of Neahkahnie, then back down on the trail described here. Finish it off with a
pleasant downhill stroll down 101, enjoying the ocean view until you get back to
your car a mile down the road.

Then on to Ecola State park in Cannon Beach and hike to Crescent Beach.

There's a storm coming in.... it's supposed to rain for the next few days...

Julie packed a nice picnic lunch that we enjoyed sitting in the sun at a bench
at Ecola State park... watching the fog roll in... sounds like an Otis Redding song.

Indian Beach is getting pretty socked in.

Then in to Cannon Beach for the obligatory visit to see Sandra at the CB Leather Shop.
And to sniff the donuts across the street....

Getting dark and time to head home after a lovely day...
