1/28/15 UPDATE: The Owners, and especially the Missus, seemed very friendly
and cordial when we stopped in on their opening day, 1/1/15. She described
herself as a "Biker Babe" so we figured maybe we'd found a replacement for
the recently closed Glenwood Inn that we've been visiting for decades. But,
apparently not.

The Lyle Hotel and Cafe seems to be a mostly Yuppie sports bar environment...
people and places that we try hard to avoid! The only thing missing out front
was a line of Prius's with his and her Obama stickers.

I tried numerous times to interest the owners in adding a killer club sandwich and
fries to the menu since that was our standard fare at the Glenwood Inn. No
response!

The Lyle Hotel and Cafe recently posted their Valentines Day "special".... one
night in a VERY small room with no TV, no A/C and a "community" bathroom down
the hall.... and a steady stream of five mile long BNSF trains going by every
10 minutes (complete with horns blasting).... plus a meal for $225 plus taxes
(which comes to a total of over $250 per night!).

Not exactly the amount we typically pay for a very nice room with cable TV, A/C,
an in-room bath/shower and a very nice brunch. So..... it's highly unlikely
that we will be returning to sample their fare. And unfortunately, we cannot
recommend the Lyle Hotel and Cafe as a stop or a destination for Bikers looking
for a great deal.

Oh well.... sometimes you find a great place totally by accident. Other times,
you don't

The Lyle Hotel was build circa 1905 to service the then new and bustling
railroad terminal here. The place had been closed for a while and had
fallen into disrepair. The Lyle Hotel had their grand re-opening yesyerday
(New Years Eve). They were open today for a few hours to serve brunch.
The bar has been completely remodeled and the cafe is bright, inviting
and casual. The menu is still quite limited. Since the Glenwood Inn
went out of business two months ago, we're hoping that the Lyle Hotel
restaurant will offer a killer club sandwich and fries. We are badly
in need of a replacement destination for our Glendale runs!

The new owners were quite gracious and showed us around. We wish them
well and hope that they add a killer club sandwich and fries to their menu
soon! (hint, hint)....

There are a couple of very weathered structures out back. Since we like
Ghost Towns, I added this picture to the layout.

The train station and railhead is long gone, but this is a very active rail
line (that could disturb guest's sleep!).

These are the first pictures I have processed with my new copy of Lightroom 5.7
They don't seem to look any worse than the stuff I've been producing with LR 3 the
past few years. I'm taking an advanced LR course starting next Monday so hopefully
my pictures will be even better soon.
