A word of advice: Links are provided that contain a lot of information about each
of these covered bridges. But take the directions with a grain of salt. The guy who
wrote them doesn't seem to know the difference between North and East... many of the
directions are vague or misleading... and in some cases downright wrong. So do your
homework as we did and be prepared to do some scouting to find some of these bridges.

All the pictures posted on this segment have GPS information included in each photo's
metadata. If your browser has the appropriate plugin, you can right click each photo
and bring up the location on your favorite Internet mapping tool (e.g. Google Maps).
You'll find that it's a LOT easier to find these bridges with good directions, a really
good map and accurate GPS coordinates.

You can also click on many of these pictures to enlarge them.

A County map (free from AAA if you are a member) can also be a real help. If you
visit the bridges in the order that they are displayed here, you will travel about 50
miles from bridge one to bridge four.

Oregon covered bridge overview

Lane Country has seen fit to NOT post any signs for these covered bridges.
The directions on the Internet are vague, misleading and in some cases
downright wrong. I've tried to provide accurate information so that you
won't become lost and frustrated trying to find these covered bridges.

Wildcat Creek, Austa Covered Bridge

This bridge is easy to find. SR 126 about 33 miles West of Eugene.
Take the Whitaker Creek/Clay Creek Recreation Area turnoff (it comes up quickly).
Turn right and go under 126. The bridge will be right there.

Coyote Creek Bridge

The imbecile who posted the directions to this bridge obviously never actually
visited this covered bridge. Save yourself some pain and take SR 126 to Veneta.
Then go South on the Territorial Highway for about five miles. Just past the 'burb
of Crow, Oregon. Go past Wolf Creek Road. Turn right on Battle Creek Road. The
Coyote Creek Covered Bridge is about a mile down Battle Creek Road.

Deadwood Creek Covered Bridge

Take SR 36 to Deadwood, Oregon. Turn North onto Deadwood Creek Road. The
Deadwood Cemetery will be on your right as soon as you head down this road.
In about five miles, turn right onto Deadwood Loop Road. The bridge is just
a short way down this unpaved road.

Nelson Mountain, Lake Creek Covered Bridge

Nelson Mountain Road from SR 216 to this bridge is a ten mile narrow, winding,
dirt/gravel road. Unless you are 4-wheeling, I'd recommend against it. Instead
Take SR 36. Just East of Deadwood turn South onto Nelson Mountain Road. You
can see the bridge well before you make this turn..
